6th Period Athletics

Pledges
When completing your Athletic Clearance process, students and parents were required to digitally sign a “6th Period Athletics Pledge”. This document outlined the requirement for 6th period Athletics.

Quick Facts:
– No student can be guaranteed placement into 6th period Athletics
– 1 year of this class counts as 1 PE credit (2 full years of PE are required for graduation)
– After 2 years of PE, students may opt to participate in this class as an elective (they must still, however, participate on a PLHS CIF sports team)
– All students must obtain Athletic Clearance in order to be placed in this class
– All students must sign the digital pledge before participating in this class
– 9th and 10th graders must participate in at least 2 PLHS CIF sports in order to qualify for (and remain in) this class
– 9th and 10th graders who fail to participate in at least 2 PLHS CIF sports will be removed from the class and placed in an earlier PE period
– 11th and 12th graders must participate in at least 1 CIF sport in order to qualify for this class
– Freshmen will not be placed in 6th period Athletics until they are rostered to a PLHS CIF team (this cannot happen before tryouts)
– Any students who ditch 6th per conditioning, quit a team, report to workouts unprepared, or display inappropriate behavior will be removed from the class
– Admin has the right to remove students from this class if their academic or citizenship performance is suffering

*Note: All above listed sports have been approved by the PLHS Administration for 6th period Athletics. Any sports that are fielded beyond this list (ex: Novice teams, Freshman teams not listed, sports not listed, etc.) will NOT qualify for 6th period Athletics or PE credit. Due to the limited amount of credentialed staff members we have, the limited space available for practices/conditioning, and the union rules regarding teacher roster sizes, we cannot add any additional sports to 6th per Athletics at this time.
