San Diego Unified has announced that team conditioning at SDUSD High Schools for cross country, field hockey, and football will start on November 19, 2020, for Point Loma High School students who intend to participate/ tryout for these three sports. Cross country, field hockey, and football were chosen by SDUSD because they are CIF Season 1 outdoor sports.
The conditioning will be run by Point Loma High School coaches and conducted as a “club” team since conditioning practice is considered off-season training by CIF. As a result, all students participating in the voluntary conditioning program must sign up for a 2021 AAU, Amateur Athletic Union, youth membership under Pointer Athletics https://aausports.org/Membership. The cost of the membership is $16.00 and this is the only fee for the conditioning sessions. If you already have a current AAU membership through football or baseball, your membership will be shifted to Pointer Athletics. If paying the Membership fee is problematic please reach out to the Athletic Director.
The conditioning sessions will be sports specific, completely voluntary, and ONLY for current Point Loma High School students. PLHS Athletics’ return to campus protocol is based on the California Department of Public Health guidance for youth sports accompanied by a second level of SDUSD safety protocols.
CIF Season 1 sports season is slated to December 12, 2020.
