Pointers News · PL Alum and Yankee Perfect Pitcher Dies at the Age of 90

Don Larsen, a graduate of Point Loma High School and an MLB perfect-game pitcher died on Wednesday January 1, 2020 at the age of 90. According to his son, Scott, Don had been diagnosed with (and was being treated for) esophageal cancer.

Don pitched his perfect game for the New York Yankees on October 8, 1956 in the fifth game of the World Series. No pitcher has carried even a no-hitter into the ninth inning of a World Series game since.

Rest in Peace, Don…once a Pointer, always a Pointer.
